Activities
HIV Testing
Mobile and clinic-based testing and treatments for infectious diseases, including HIV, TB, STI, and malaria. AIS’s “Seven Tents” testing caravan has travelled from North to South in service to communities in need of access to critical health information and access to care and treatment.
Women’s Support
Women’s Income-Generating trainings and start-up cash for small businesses, to enable women-headed households to grow and thrive. These include cottage industries such as bee keeping, poultry farming, hair salons and shopkeeping.
Youth Groups
Youth HIV Awareness Clubs train and mentor teens to serve as HIV peer educators and influencers . Teens produce drama scripts, plays, and learning sessions for parents and younger siblings alike, to inform and empower participants to make healthy choices.
Bee Keeping
Beekeeping produces its richest oak blossom white honey in Tigray, where Afrikin International Services co-invests in and partners with small-scale bee farmers to harvest high-grade honey for market in towns and cities. Beekeeping for income generation engages women and children who are without a livelihood in floral cultivation, hive construction and repair, honey extraction, packing and marketing.
Nutritional Support
Supplemental child nutrition provides much-needed additional calories, protein, and micronutrients for malnourished children under-five, providing milk, oil, millet, and eggs for all the children in the most impoverished families attending our clinics in Zeway and Mekele. Ready-to-use therapeutic foods such as Plumpy’Nut are available to the most undernourished.
Your gift will support the sustained health and well-being of the most vulnerable. From the peasant farmer with little access to nutritional support, to the most at risk urban dweller seeking free and confidential HIV/STI testing & treatment, AIS welcomes all.
