AIS operates out of New York City, where it has administered health and human services and has done most of its fundraising for the past 40 years, and has many donor relationships; individual, foundation, corporate, and government. The small office of New York based staff collaborate daily with the Ethiopia team and make annual monitoring visits to the field.
Ziway, Ethopia
The Ziway laboratories are equipped with Hematology, Chemistry, CD4 machines, and Microscopes to provide HIV, TB, STI, and general health screening to all of our clients who cannot afford to see a private physician.
The clinic hosts 7 counseling and testing rooms, an on-site pharmacy where antibiotics and antivirals for treatment of infectious diseases are available free of charge for destitute patients, and a beautiful outdoor space with a stage for community gatherings and workshops.
Mekele, Ethiopia
Located in Mekele, the capital city of Tigray province, Ethiopia, 777 kilometres north of Addis Ababa, The Kim Nichols Health and Community Development Center centers its efforts on improving the health of the marginally-surviving, complemented by family planning and income-generation. The center houses a laboratory, pharmacy, and supplemental food pantry. The laboratories are equipped with Hematology, Chemistry, CD4 machines, and Microscopes to provide HIV, TB, STI, and general health screening to all of our clients who cannot afford to see a private physician.The premises house an auditorium, pharmacy for HIV antiretroviral, TB medication, and antibiotic storage, warehouse, and 8 offices.
